P&F Bullish Breakouts
The most basic P&F buy signal comes from Double Top Breakout. From here, classical models expand to create consolidations with well-defined resistance levels. Patterns of reversal form after a prolonged fall, while continuation patterns act as a rest after a long progression. Some congestion, a clear resistance level, and a precise breaking point make these patterns relatively easy to detect. There are five P&F bullish patterns. The most basic P&F buy signal is the Double Top Breakout, which occurs when an X-Column rises above the previous X-Column's high. From this basic pattern, the bull exit patterns become more complex and broader. The wider the pattern, the better the resistance level is determined and the more important the breakout. This article will look at five main exit patterns in detail and show measurement techniques for Price Targets.
Double Top Breakout
In the P&F world, Double Top Breakouts are bullish formations confirmed by a resistance break. On the other hand, with bar charts, Double Top Breakouts are bearish patterns confirmed by a break of support. These models are not contradictory. They are just different patterns with similar names.
As stated above, the most basic P&F buy signal is when a Column X moves above the previous X Column high. These two columns are separated by an O-Pillar. The X-Columns show rising prices, while the O-Columns show falling prices. The first ascending X-Column determines the direction. The O-Pillar in the middle represents a leap forming support. The third X-Pillar triggers the higher one. The ability to climb above the previous high indicates the strength associated with the uptrend.
Double Top Breakouts, the most common signal in the P&F universe, are also the most prone to whip sawing and failure. These breaks should be seen in the context of the larger picture. It is important to use other aspects of technical analysis when using signals as common as Double Top Breakouts. The chart below shows Diamond Offshore (DO) with several Double Top Breakouts over the past two years.

Trio Best Debut
Triple Top Breakout takes Double Top Breakout one step further by adding a column of resistance. Two consecutive X Columns define resistance by two equal reaction heights. The third X Column breaks over the previous two X Columns to create the Triple Top Breakout. The classic Triple Upper Splits are five columns wide: three X-Pillars and two O-Pillars.
These patterns can mark reverse breaks or continuation breaks. The distinction between reversal and continuation depends on the previous move. The Triple Best Breakout, which is formed as a base after a fall, is considered a reversal pattern, while the Triple Best Breakout, which is formed as a consolidation after one advance, is seen as a continuation model.
The chart above shows Computer Science (CSC) with the reverse Triple Best Breakout at the end of 2008 followed by two sequels Triple Best Breakout While it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between reversal patterns and continuity patterns, the Triple Top Breakout itself is easy to define.

An Incremental Triple Top Break is basically a Double Top Break in a row. These breaks form three X Pillars that rise at each break. With three X-Pillars and two O-Pillars, the pattern is as broad as a classic Triple Top Break. The ability to form successively higher peaks indicates underlying strength, indicative of an uptrend. As with other models, this Rising Triple Top Breakout can occur as a continuation or reversal pattern.
